Your Questions About Pregnant Weight Loss Exercise

Steven asks…
pregnant and exercise/weight lose?
i JUST found out im four weeks pregnant, im a little shocked and almost dont belive it but the line on the test appeared IMMEDIATELY and is very dark. i just started a healthy eating/exercise routine, nothing crazy just a lot of veggies, between 1300 – 1500 calories a day and some cardio and walking. i wanted to lose the weight for an easier and healthier pregnancy for next year sometime but i guess my body decided the time for me! can i continue this for a few more weeks to lose what i can? i normally dont exercise at all and eat like a pig so i expect weight loss. ideally, (assuming my morning sickness isnt a problem) i would like to continue with my exercise and salad eating until three months pregnant to lose weight and get in better shape.
please keep in mind i already have two kids so im not an idiot, and i am doing this responsibly and levelheaded, i am not starving myself or over-exercising. i am currently about 20 pounds overweight.

That is very similar to what happened to me! I was trying to get in shape and lose weight so I could get pregnant and it just happened
I haven’t been exercising like I was because I had some spotting at 5 weeks so I waiting to begin working out again until after the first trimester. I asked my doctor about my diet and she said eating healthy is great, just make sure you eat more protein, get more fruit and veggies, and milk servings than before.
Good luck and congratulations!

Sandra asks…
can exercise or weight loss delay your period?
i didn’t have my period last month, is it possible that all of the exercise in gym class like delayed my period, or have i just skipped a month? i’ve have my period for about 2 years now. i’m not pregnant ( i’m not sexually active) nor do i have an std…… just to let you know lol
thanks?

Weight loss most definitely can. You sound yound and during the first few years of actually having your period, it’ll be a little out-of-whack like happening every 5-6 weeks instead of four. That happened to me too.

Period Question – Weight Loss/Exercise?
Hello ladies! I have yet another one of those period questions. I have been exercising on a consistent basis (30-45 minute walks every day and at least 1-2 hours of horseback riding a week) and I have also changed my diet to be a little more healthier than usual. I started this change back in February and so far I have lost about 10 lbs which is nice. My question is for the last two months (March and April) my period’s were “regular” for me, March 17th and April 14th. I have not had my period for May yet (which should’ve already happened) and so it’s been 37 days since my last one. My husband and I are kind of trying to get pregnant (not real hard!) but I’m afraid to take any tests b/c I don’t want to get my hopes up and then end up testing negative or starting my period the next day. I haven’t been “stressing” about my period, there’s no reason for me to. I just thought that eating healthier and exercising would help better regulate my periods, not make them wackier. Thoughts?

Your period can be affected by weight loss, but it has to be a severe change to the point where you have very low body fat. World-class athletes sometimes stop getting their period. It doesn’t sound like a 10-lb. Loss is in that category. Congratulations on your successful weight loss!
A simple home test will relieve your mind either way. It’s worth knowing and you would be far enough along that if you were pregnant, it would show on the test. That’s really the only way to tell. Since you horseback ride regularly I think it would be wise to test.

Pregnancy: Exercise & weight loss question?
Since falling pregnant i’ve put on a good amount of weight (3stone) probably from not exercising and eating alot of junk foods, i look the same to everyone else but when i’m naked i notice that i’ve piled on alot of weight on my thighs and bum.
I want to do some exercises from home if possible and start eating better foods, obviously no exercise that is too strenuous or anything that would harm my baby in anyway, i just don’t want to gain anymore weight than i already have.
Also, after giving birth, how long do i need to weight before i can diet and start doing proper exercises? I don’t mean diet, i mean cutting out fat, carbs and so on. I know i can’t do this when i’m pregnant so i’m leaving that big step till after the baby is born, so how long should i wait? I’m not breastfeeding.

I am not as far gone as you, but im thinking well ahead!
Im just gunna wait til im in 2nd trimester (next week) n when i know all is still well.. Then im going to walk alot – i take doggy out everyday for walk, but im talking loooong walk – i find its hurting my back when ive been doing it so far! I wanna do some really light weights, just to keep my arms toned.
But if you start now, it be great, you dont have to cut out on everything just lower on the intake of the bad stuff..
And walking is a BIG plus..it will also make ur labour and birth easier =)
And if you’re not breastfeeding and have a natural birth – ie not a c-section you can pretty much start exercising straight away, just start off easy! And remember to do your stretches!
Good Luck!

Paul asks…
Is this enough exercise/weight loss to cause loss of period?
Hi.
I’ve been vegan for a year and my period has stayed fairly regular throughout that time, but recently I’ve joined the cross country team at my school. I’m running about 5 miles a day, 5 days a week. I’ve also lost about 10 pounds is three weeks, putting me at 94 pounds at 5’4”.
I know I’m thin, but I’ve been very skinny my whole life with no problems (even when I wasn’t vegan, in fact I gained 5 pounds when I went vegan). the doctor says it’s just the way I’m built and that I may gain a little weight as I get older.
BUT this month my period in 2 weeks late. I’m not sexually active so I’m definitely not pregnant. I know it’s early to be raising the alarm, but should I be worried?
admin answers:
Yes and no. Your body could be rejecting this new vegan diet. You can still eat almost anything you want once your healthy and on a regular exercise diet. Sometimes when your body is going through a big change like dieting or heavy stress or lots of new exercises you could not get your normal cycle. I’m a personal trainer and I always suggest eating more fruits and vegetable not but ever cut out chicken fish and red meat. All chicken fish and red meat will provide your body with creatine, protein and most important of all vitamins and minerals. Good Luck.
